Day 1, May 19 |
Overnight flight departure from Canadian destination to Vienna, Europe arriving in the morning. |
Day 2, May 20 |
Vienna After hotel registration and check-in you will have opportunity to relax and recuperate somewhat before traveling to the picturesque wine-making village of Grinzing. Here you will join the other fellow travelers at one of the local restaurants for a delightful welcome dinner, complete with local wines and traditional entertainment. Hotel de France (D) |
Day 3, May 21 |
Vienna After breakfast you begin the Imperial tour that highlights the baroque marvels of Schoenbrunn or the Belvedere Palace. Touring Vienna's city centre, you view St Stephen's Cathedral, beautiful baroque architecture, parks, and the gothic spires of by gone days. The remainder of the day is at leisure. This evening you are invited to dinner at a popular local restaurant. Hotel de France (B,D) |
Day 4, May 22 |
Vienna, Danube River Cruise, Melk, Salzburg After breakfast and hotel check-out you depart from Vienna and travel along the banks of the Danube to the medieval town of Durnstein. Here you embark on a cruise on the Danube, gliding through the historic Wachau Valley, one of the most beautiful stretches of river in the world. Later you visit the Benedictine Abbey in Melk, before continuing to the "City of Music", Salzburg. Renaissance Hotel (B) |

Salzburg – Mozart Dinner Concert This morning after breakfast you will enjoy a walking tour of the "Old Town" highlighting the Cathedral, Mozart's Birthplace and the Mirabell Gardens. You will not be able to miss recognizable locations from the "Sound of Music". The afternoon is at leisure. This evening includes a memorable dinner at the St Peter's Restaurant, in stylish ambiance with a traditional dinner featuring recipes from the 17/18th centuries. Renaissance Hotel (B,D) |
Day 6, May 24 |
Salzburg, Munich, Oberammergau This morning you will continue with your travels through the picturesque landscape of Austria to neighboring Germany. Your destination is Munich, the beautiful capital of the state of Bavaria. Upon arrival, enjoy the city tour featuring the Olympic Park, Marienplatz, and the Glockenspiel. Next, depart for the quaint village of Oberammergau, nestled in the Baravian Alps. Oberammergau Hotel (B,D) |
Day 7, May 25 |
Oberammergau – Passion Play Today you will enjoy the performance of the Passion Play which originally took place in 1634. During the Thirty Year War, the village of Oberammergau was spared the Black Plaque and for this reason, the villagers vowed that every ten years they would give a play to honor the life of Christ. The performers are native villagers. To lend authenticity to the performance, the cast start to grow their hair and beards more than a year in advance. The performance is approximately 8 hours long. Oberammergau, Rhine Falls, Black Forest Immediately after breakfast you will visit the Wies Church, proclaimed as a World Heritage site. You then view the most famous castle in Bavaria...Neuschwanstein…with its many turrets and pinnacles. Continuing along the scenic route you transverse southern Germany, skirting the northern shores of Lake Constance to the Rhine falls, Europe's most powerful waterfall. Day 9, May 27 |
Black Forest, Chateau de Chillon, Lake Geneva, Zermatt, Switzerland After breakfast you will visit the Chateau de Chillon, beautifully situated on Lake Geneva. Your travels continue through the wine growing Rhone valley before ascent into the fabulous Swiss Alps. Day 10, May 28 |
Zermatt Today you begin the day with an orientation tour of the village and the balance of the day is at leisure to explore the charming village, savor pastries in the local bakeries and just relax. Hotel Schweizerhof (B) |
Day 11, May 29 |
Zermatt, Lucerne, Bern This morning you travel to the beautiful city of Lucerne enjoying a leisurely paced walk of the "Old City". Lucerne has more than 800 years of history. This afternoon you travel to the Swiss capital. Bern Hotel Bristol (B) |
Day 12, May 30 |
Bern Today you explore delightful Bern on a panoramic tour of the city featuring Bundeshau, Rose Gardens and the gothic cathedral and more. This evening you join your fellow travelers with a farewell dinner. Hotel Bristol (B,D) |
Day 13, May 31 |
Bern Today you will begin your journey home from the Zurich International Airport. |
Additional information
- This is a Collette Vacations tour hosted by Len Loeppky in conjunction with Holiday Travel. A local English speaking guide, in addition to your tour host, will be traveling with the group.
- Included in the price: $6115 per person in double occupancy. This includes the round trip air fare from Winnipeg, Air taxes and fees/surcharges of $460 (subject to increase/decrease until paid in full), hotel transfers, hotels, bus, guide, meals as indicated, passion play admission, detailed handbook etc.
